All
of Verlu's products are handcrafted and assembled in Bali, Indonesia,
where the New Zealand-native designer has resided for the last twenty
years. The vast majority of organic materials used are native to the
South Pacific and no endangered species are used.
Every
facet of our production adheres to fair trade principles in the belief
that it contributes to a better world overall. It's also our business
practice and priority to hire locals that are most in need. Employees
are provided a safe, clean working environment, medical benefits,
retirement programs, training, skill upgrading and sometimes even
housing; all within an energy-efficient, community supportive, garden
and tree inhabited, all around socially sound business. Almost all
production is done in-house to ensure that these standards are upheld,
but if another vendor's premises are used, they are thoroughly checked
beforehand.
These
are just some of the reasons why Verlu is considered one of the most
desireable and respected employers in the region. Our clients
understand that adhering to these principles is well worth a little
extra when it comes to Mother Earth and her inhabitants. We're proud to
say that we are providing them with products they trust have been
produced in a socially responsible manner. |
